Segway's lithium-ion batteries offer customers the value of longer range and the convenience of spending less total time on the charger. A123 is the premier lithium battery and will last many more charge/discharge cycles due to their patented lithium nano-phosphate technology which offer un-rivaled performance and safety.

Q. Are the lithium-ion battery packs the same size as the Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) battery packs?
The lithium-ion battery packs are the same dimensions of the NiMH battery packs, except they are one inch deeper. This means that a Segway PT equipped with lithium-ion battery packs will have three inches of ground clearance, instead of the four inches available with NiMH. They are also a little heavier than the NiMH batteries.
Q. Does the new A123 lithium-ion battery cells last longer?
A. Yes. The New A123 cells being used have double the charge/discharge capacity of Segway's Original Lithium battery.
Q. Does the New NiMH cell also last longer than the original cells in Segway NiMH batteries?
A. Yes. Not only do the NiMH battery last longer range and life span.
Q. Can I use NiMH batteries in my Segway x2 or i2?
A. No
Q. Can I use the New Lithium-ion batteries in my Gen1 Segway HT 167, 170, 180?
A. Yes. If the Segway HT has upgraded software.
Q. Do I need to ship my battery to you?
A. Yes. We use the battery cases from your old batteries. They are cleaned and filled with brand new high capacity cells and shipped back to you. We have a very limited supply of battery cases and this is why you need to ship your battery to us.
Q. Do these batteries really last longer than my original batteries?
A. Yes. Without a doubt these batteries will last longer than your original battery packs.
